About Reflexology

Ancient forms of Reflexology are believed to have been practised in both Chinese and Egyptian medicine for nearly 5000 years. Modern reflexology is based on the same concepts with the addition that specific points on the feet or hands have been mapped out to correspond to different parts of the body. By applying pressure to these reflex points through massage and holding techniques, imbalances and blockages in bodily systems can be felt and gently broken down.

  • Reflexology is deeply relaxing and helps your body achieve its natural state of balance or homeostasis

  • Reflexology reduces stress and tension

  • Relaxation causes blood vessels to dilate, increasing circulation to organs within the body allowing optimal physiological function

  • This increased circulation also optimises the ability to eliminate toxins more effectively

  • Therefore reflexology leaves your body relaxed, detoxified and rebalanced, so it is able to utilise it's own amazing ability to heal effectively

It is a truly holistic therapy that treats the whole person in both body and mind. Your own body will take what it needs from each treatment.

Reflexologists do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe. Reflexology is a complimentary therapy that works very effectively alongside modern medical practices and medications if necessary.

  • What benefits can be expected?

Increased relaxation, improved mood, released tension, enhanced sleep and generally improved wellbeing in many areas of health.

    Who can have reflexology?

The whole family can enjoy and benefit from reflexology: babies, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly.

    Does reflexology tickle?

No reflexology does not tickle! A sequence of massaging and holding techniques will be used over the whole foot. Reasonably firm pressure is used and will be adapted to your preferences.

    About Me...

Originally from a scientific background, I was a commercial airline pilot when I was diagnosed with an aggressive tumour in my mid-thirties. During my recovery from the intensive cancer treatment and coping with the associated loss of my flying licence, my love of reflexology began. Reflexology has supported my young family and I through multiple life events, both physical and emotional. I chose to become a reflexologist because I knew that I wanted to be able to really make a difference in my second chance at life.

I trained at the renowned Maureen Burgess School of Reflexology, and obtained an Association of Reflexologists approved, Level 3 Reflexology Diploma. The course included over 100 hours of practical training and case studies, alongside detailed study of anatomy, physiology and pathology. I am a proud member of the Association of Reflexologists and really enjoy the continuing professional development required to maintain my membership.

I find it immensely rewarding helping clients on their journey to better health and supporting them with this wonderful holistic therapy.
